@el_dugi Had the pleasure of tattooing wedding day mother’s portrait for a great client.
It always an honor to be given the trust to capture a loved ones portrait. I’ve worked with horrendous quality photos that were extremely challenging blurry and pixelated. Probably the most difficult subject to tattoo but by far my favorite. If I don’t capture the light perfectly across a flower petal, or bird or a skull no big deal. But the pressure of capturing the facial featured and expression of someone known so well to my client is a completely different level. Portraits are by far my favorite subject to tattoo because they are so demanding and challenging. Portraits are what catapulted my career and completely changed the direction of my life and my art. My early fine art work was large angry and abstract. Shoutout Talking Head Gallery ✊🏽 It was my escape and my pressure release valve. It was dark and was my way of coping with the world and all the injustice I felt so helpless against. This was the purpose art served for me. It was an absolute need to express, it was the battle of nature against technology and the greed, chaos pain and suffering of civilization on the natural world and native people everywhere. I randomly began drawing portraits for people, and it created an avalanche that changed my life and my art. Art became something beautiful, a gift I could give people that was far more than the sum of its parts. Portraits are what pulled me into tattooing. I was blown away seeing @nikkohurtado work, I wanted to create like that. And an avalanche came that swept me away. It has been incredible to give such meaningful pieces to my client/friends.
